six happy things

“In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.”
― Margaret Atwood, Bluebeard's Egg

i. April so far has been a tug-of-war between winter and summer. The biting chill that requires coats and hats and scarves is ushered out a few days later with hot sunshine that necessitates shorts and bare feet and then it flips back again. Right now we're in a summer swing, and we're outside as much as we can and not thinking about the snow forecast for next week.

ii. Fresh bread is my favorite, and that's what's up. Happiness in the oven bread machine.

iii. Last weekend consisted of wrapping up another year of club de pâques, muddy soccer games, youth work days at church, spontaneous dancing on the church steps, birthday parties, and board games with friends.

iv. The plan for this weekend is to drive down to the mountains and have ourselves a intercity youth group party. There will probably (for sure) be loud singing, climbing of mountains, soccer games, eating competitions, and lots of laughter.

v. Long before the weather decided to reflect it, spring crept into our lives in other ways. It's been a spring of taking out and bringing in, decisions, changes, a new heart, excitement, tears, and joy. Mostly, I am eager to see what the future will bring and so thankful that I have one. I am still scared though, and so as always I have to remind myself that God has a plan. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. -Jeremiah 29:11

vi. The trees are finally in bloom. That's all.
