Getting Here
I think the best way to do this is to write a sort of schedule down. Let`s see if this works.
10:30am, Monday, July 5 - Before 10:30 we woke up, ate breakfast, finished packing, and loaded the cars. At we said our goodbyes to the friends we were staying with and they prayed for us.
10:45 - We left the house in a Sienna and Yukon.
11:15 (aproximately) - We stopped at my Uncle and Aunt`s house to say goodbye and pick up my Uncle. They get our mini-van while were gone. Which, by the way, is only 1,000 miles short of 200,00!
12:00 - We arrived at the airport, loaded our luggage onto four trolleys, and got in line for checking our bags. Well, not in line really, there wasn`t one. We got yelled at by a man who wanted us to use self check in. It promtly didn`t work. Anyway, we spent about an hour there checking Bella in (our dog) and checking our passports and getting caught up in all other sorts of airporty things.
1:00 - Goodbyes to the two friends who took us to the airport and to my Uncle (We love you!). Then we went through security (amazingly short line!) where Papa lost an Swiss army knife. We`re not sure how it got in his breifcase. Hmm.... Then we got to ride the little train to our terminal. There we got some lunch, and waited for our plane which was due to leave at 3:20. While waiting our friend Julie arrived, yay! She is going to live in Berlin for six months and she had the same flight us we did! We call it a hug from the Lord.
2:50 - We got on the plane and waited to take off. There wasn`t much waiting actually. And then we watched the little video with the same little lady showing us what to do in an emergency landing. Our flight was supposed to be an hour and forty minutes but we arrived twenty-five minutes early so we porbably arrived in San Francisco around 4:45.
4:45 - Arrived in San Francisco. Same time zone, yay! They take American money, yay! The San Fransico airport has a big main building and then arms sticking off it. Our two filghts were in different arms so we got to walk around to the other arm. Papa, Julie, and I walked around a little bit because Julie wanted some dinner and I had to find some "5" gum. Unfortunately, they didn`t have it and I had to settle with Extra. Not that I`m picky about my gum, but my friends are. :)
6:30 - We boarded the plane.
7:15 - We took off. (Note: Swiss (which we flew the second time) didn`t give us a pre-flight saftey procedure, although they did give us chocolate. :) During our ten hour flight, we watched movies, ate dinner and breakfast, slept, read, and assembled lego trucks. I finally got to watch Alice in Wonderland! Haha! We all managed to sleep a bit, and Andrew slept for at least half the flight.
2:44pm Switzerland - Arrived in Zurich. We said goodbye to Julie (she had a connection flight) and breezed through passport control. We heard Bella as soon as we walked into the baggage claim and all twelve of our suitcases showed up really fast. Some friends who live in Zurich took the train to meet us at the airport. Hopefully we`ll see a lot more of them in the coming months. We managed to fit most of the luggage into my uncle and grandfathers` tiny European cars (they`re tiny I tell you!) and Papa picked up the Mazda and took the rest of the bags.
6:00 - We arrived at my grandparents and met our cousin Adrien! More about him later. :) We saw our house and then came back to my grandparents` for dinner.
That was our trip, and I will tell you much more soon. Goodnight!
