Cailler Chocolate Factory

On our way to Lausanne Tuesday, we stopped by the Cailler Chocolate Factory in Broc. They’ve put together a really nice tour starting by explaining the history of chocolate and finishing by showing us the factory.
They also had a room with different kinds of cocoa beans. The whole place smelled heavenly which made me really hungry but they gave us samples of mini-Branches and we went through the tasting room where we got to taste lots of different kinds of chocolate. Yum! Here are some cocoa beans.

This is the machine that chops the long logs of chocolate into the small Branche pieces. Chop chop!

Here's where the chocolate logs get covered in yummy, gooey chocolate. Hungry yet?

See that big blue bin beneath the belt? Well all that dark stuff is chocolate. I was dying to reach my hand in there and partake of it!

There was a mal-functioning something during our visit and so half of the machine stopped and the other half kept going. Anyway, all that chocolate in the below image got left. Sad, no? But the worker-lady came eventually and started it up again.

And here is part of the chocolate shop. this is most of the different 100g bars that Cailler makes. The ones in the fore ground aren’t actually Cailler, they’re Nestle. But, like most of the other chocolate brands, Cailler is owned by Nestle.

CHOCOLATE!

We were all really pleased with the whole schbang, and had a lot of fun. Although I think I could do without chocolate for a few days.

P.S. Sorry about the really bad pictures. The lighting was HORRIBLE! Plus my camera is being kinda funky.
