Dear blog...

I have sadly neglected you, haven't I? Well, maybe it's because I haven't had a lot of breathing space the past six weeks. Ski camp, a (lovely) visitor, school, more visitors, spring break, Legoland, Salzburg, Venice, and Easter. It seems a bit out of place to tack Easter on the end, as it's by far the most important event of them all! I cannot thank Jesus enough for coming down on earth to die for me, what a precious love that is.

Back to "all those events", we've had quite a time of it. After ski camp (which I still haven't told you about - I rather think that will never happen) we had a good friend from the US grace us with her presence for three weeks. Her name is Melinda and she makes the most lovely doll clothes! You can visit her here.

Now, isn't she pretty?

Two weeks after Miss Melinda arrived my good friend came with her mother to stay for two weeks - yipee!

One week into their visit; Sister turned 12, Melinda left us, and us Chocolate kids went on Spring Break. We spent a week visiting museums, shopping, staying up late, climbing mountains, talking, planning our lives, hanging out, goofing off. Girl stuff.

Then they left us, (great sadness, but promises to spend lots of time together this summer - I still haven't told you all of that either, oh dear) and we went off on the grand tour.

The grand tour you ask, what's that? Ah... The grand tour was our spring adventure - Legoland, Salzburg, and Venice. Last Sunday we drove up to Germany after church and spent the night in a nice little German hotel. In the morning we ate a German breakfast and left for Legoland (but we didn't move fast enough for the boys).

The other time we've been to Legoland was about seven years ago in California and the weather in Germany was much nicer than that of California. We rode lots of rides, got rather wet on the pirate one (it was not my mother's favorite), ate some lunch, went to a rather, uh, small aquarium (us spoiled west coasters), had ice cream, bought legos, and visited Frankfurt, Lucerne, Berlin, Hamburg, Venice, Amsterdam, the Munich Aiport in Miniland (that really deserves a post of its own).

Here are the Kids driving 'round at the Safari.

After we were all Legoland-ed out we hopped over to Munich to spend the night with some British friends (from when my parents lived there after they were first married). The next morning we went to Salzburg and took the Sound of Music tour!
We saw some of the castles used in the film... (here the lake side was used)

drank Almdudler... (yum!)

and saw beautiful Austrian Alps!

We spent that night at a wonderful hostel (they know how to do breakfast!) and then drove to Venice, where we spent three nights. That's too much to put in this post but I'll give you a sneak peek!

'Till we meet again folks! (and I promise it won't be five weeks this time)

Much love,
Artemis
