summer upon us

Summer is here in all its glory, long hot days filled with swimming pools, sailing at the lake and remembering to water the garden. Sunday afternoons are spent lazily playing card games under the trees with friends. We drive through town and then roll down our windows once we get out in the country so as to better share our loud music with the world. And, of course, to better watch the hot air balloons drift across the sky. Someday, we say to ourselves.

We're eating outside, late, filling our plates with fresh food, watching the sun set spectacularly over the hill. When we do errands, we run from the car into the store, then stop in the doorway to let the coolness of the air conditioning wash over us. We dash across the pavement, barefoot, burning our feet. We eat marshmallows, sip iced tea, lick ice cream. We drink summer in, big thirsty gulps of it.

July has been good to us.

  1. Pools, cards, bare feet and hot air balloons are all wonderfully Summery-- I love those sorts of things... Some of the reasons this is such a magical season. The lighting is really pretty in the card game shot, by the way. :) Blessings!
