the day that the girls packed up and went to Lucerne

We sallied forth, the four of us, one morning last week. We talked and read and dozed the two and a half hours there. Then we wandered the city, stopping to take pictures, read menus, visit a museum, buy chocolate, eat lunch on the lakeside, and admire the swans. The sky spread out its blue canopy above us, and the mountains slowly began to appear through the haze. We visited the tourist destinations, some of them new and some of them old. We ate good, Swiss food. Then we drove home across the plateau and through the mountains, as the sun set, and watched the sky turn pink.
That, was a good adventure.
